If the phrase, “Where do you want these?” sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because someone has said this to you when you were in charge of something—setting up an event, for instance, or moving into a new place with the help of friends and family.
Or maybe you recognize this question from another comic I made a few years ago which has a similar (errr, very similar) theme as the comic you’re about to read…
Either way, there are some instances in which this question is welcome: “Oh, those go in the kitchen! Thanks so much—I know they’re really heavy!”
And others in which you could care less about where that thing goes and just want the other person to HANDLE IT ALREADY.
That’s partly what this week’s comic is about. It’s also about how deciding where every new thing that comes into the house goes—even the things that don’t really have a place and/or you don’t care about—is yet another part of The Mental Load. Because when you’re the Default Household Manager, everything becomes your problem at some point/one way or another…
